First sighting of new Honda Insight!

I took this picture with my cell phone. It was in the parking lot of a private school. This is really good news. For years, kids were being dropped off here in $65,000 Toyota LandCruisers and every other kind of expensive car you can think of. Nowadays the relatively inexpensive Prius is the most common car found in this lot, which may be the first time in American history where a car has attained status based on its gas mileage.

Anyone who follows my rants knows I'm not a fan of supply side energy solutions. Efficiency gains are vastly superior from both cost and environmental perspectives than trying to pump up supplies of energy with things like new coal plants and agrofuels.

Hey Russ, yes we do have to make some changes in our lives, and our Governor is making a big difference in Oregon. He mandated last September 1 as the day that all fuel sold in cars be 10% ethanol, just thought you would like to know. I drive a Camry since we live in the country, it is 15 years old and still gets 30 mpg, honest, and is a very nice car. I am a conservative, surprised that I agree with about 80% of what you say. We are used to our Governor Kulongoski (nick name comeandtaxme) making remark's like he did to get headlines.

  2. That is good mileage.

These guys are claiming they got into the 60s.

I have a 91 Tercel that is getting 30 in the city, with careful technique.

This hybrid religion is rediculous. 10 years from now your hybrid will be the mullet of the decade.

why do you idiots focus so much on what other people drive? I am cheap as hell but wont be driving a hybrid until it actually saves me money on $2 a gallon gas. You know, when it actually MONITARILY makes sense. right now you pay thousands extra on a car and get pissed when the price of gas goes down... Then you think well, lets vote for sombody that will artificially raise the price of gas, yea that makes me look smart! its like some religous cult sells all their crap because the end of the world is coming but when it doesnt, their lives have no meaning.

Or kinda like building a $900K solar house to save $50 a month on electricity. and when it totally fails, you want to dump more money into it. NUTS NUTS NUTS.

Eh, if your going to donate your money to a worthy cause, how about a charity?
